Special Information about use of Rompun in Small Animal Practice.
Rompun: Mainstay in treatment across the board
As sedative and anaesthetic, Rompun is of proven value in veterinary care, facilitating the safe handling of animals in everyday practice.
The anti-anxiety, sedative and analgesic effects of Rompun are achieved at even lower doses. It can be used alone for carrying out diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, as well as minor surgery such as:
e.g.
- ear treatment including removal of foreign bodies
- changing bandages
- removing dental tartar
- performing x-rays
- catheterisation of the bladder
- ultrasound examination
- sedation of aggressive animals
- endoscopy
- of skin wounds/ wound treatment
- incision of abscesses
- ophtalmologic examinations
As with many other neuropharmacological products, dosages vary according to the animal’s degree of agitation, environmental influences (e.g. noise levels), and the size of the animal concerned. Normally, the larger the animal the lower the dosage per kg of body weight.
