Specific antagonists of Rompun and their mechanism of action.

Alpha-2-antagonists inhibit the action of Rompun at alpha-2-receptors.

The specific antidotes to Rompun are central and peripheral alpha-2-antagonists* (or alpha-2-blockers).
They bind to presynaptic and postsynaptic alpha-2-receptors, which inhibits the action of Rompun.
As a result, noradrenaline release resumes as normal; the sympathetic nervous system is reactivated.
Most of the effects of Rompun are thus eliminated.
